This epidemiological study aims to: 1) examine the prevalence of chronic disease among medicinal and recreational cannabis users; 2) assess the association between type of cannabis use and chronic disease; and 3) identify the prevalence of cardiovascular- and respiratory-related disease among medicinal and recreational cannabis users.


Population-based data are from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s 2013-2016 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health and are being analyzed in collaboration with Dr. Sylvia Martins at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
