"Using Standardized Patients to Increase Nursing Student Empathy: A Pilot Study"

The purpose of this pilot study is to measure the empathy level of undergraduate nursing students after participating in a learning activity that uses standardized patients.

This study seeks to determine if early training increases empathy levels among undergraduate nursing students and if empathy levels can be sustained. This study was conducted during the Fall 2016 semester and was funded by a Faculty Learning Community Grant from the University of Miami’s Office of the Provost.
