The UM SONHS’ health studies programs' most recently established international partnership is with Manipal University, located in India’s Dehmi Kalan village near Jaipur. This global partnership presents a unique opportunity for students to expand their worldview of population-level healthcare. Our students who travel to India get to observe a culture that has integrated the still-widespread practice of ancient Eastern healing traditions with an increasingly modernized and conventional Western medicine-based healthcare system. During their trip to India, students will have the chance to visit India’s public health departments, hospitals, and remote village clinics, an exposure to rural medicine not otherwise available in their curricula.
