Beta Tau Chapter
As part of Sigma Theta Tau International Beta Tau was founded in 1974 at the University of Miami School of Nursing and health studies. Currently Beta Tau has more than 300 active members and will be celebrating the 40th anniversary in 2014. Why get involved in STTI/ UM Beta Chapter? There are many opportunities to compete for research grants, participate in conferences, networking within the nursing community, have access to the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library, receive the Journal of Nursing Scholarship, the Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Journal and collaborate in identifying individuals for participation in the honor society and lasting building the legacy of excellence in nursing.

Membership
Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and are in last semester of the program. Undergraduate students who are in the 30 percentile of their class academically and graduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or > are invited to join. Nursing leadership is the only category which does not require achievement in academic scholarship as a criterion. Nurse leaders (e.g. educators, clinicians, researchers, administration, global health and others can also be nominated to Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). This organization has more than 130,000 active members in more than 85 countries.
