"Understanding Disparities in HIV Prevention and Treatment among Transgender Women in South Florida", Joseph De Santis, PhD & Alan Rodriguez, MD – Co-PIs

This mixed method study has the following three aims: 1) Characterize the attitudes, knowledge, and beliefs of individual and system level barriers experienced by transgender women regarding HIV preventive and primary medical care in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, 2) Characterize the personal and professional attitudes, knowledge, and beliefs of healthcare providers and administrative/front line staff regarding transgender women in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and 3) Compare and contrast identified experiences, attitudes, knowledge, and beliefs among transgender women and healthcare providers/frontline staff, identifying opportunities for interventions that can enhance HIV prevention and care for transgender women in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
