Family Nurse Practitioner Program Plan of Study

The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies offer two distinct Plans of Study for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.  Students complete a total of 38 credits in either one year or two years of study.  The program starts each Fall Semester (full-time) or Spring (part-time). However, new graduate students participate in an online/remote pre-immersion course prior to starting classes to prepare them to take graduate advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology courses.

Learning Outcomes

1. Students will be able to incorporate professional ethics and social justice in the development of the advanced practice role.

2. Students will demonstrate proficiency in comprehensive health assessment of individuals and families across the lifespan at an advanced practice nursing level.

3. Students from the Family Nurse Practitioner program will demonstrate ability to integrate information to manage acute and chronic health problems in advanced clinical practice with emphasis on strategies for health maintenance and health promotion.
