Faculty Opportunities

The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies in Coral Gables, Florida, is recognized as a world-class center for nursing education with a rich heritage dating back to 1948. The School invites applications to fill fulltime tenure line positions at the rank of Professor, Associate and Assistant Professors. The minimum requirements for positions are listed below. These positions provide an outstanding opportunity to lead collaborative work with faculty members, preceptors, clinicians, and researchers in the field of nursing, health sciences, public health, and social behavioral sciences. Associate Dean for Research, Professor

Research Doctorate (PhD) in nursing or related field is required. Candidates must have a well-established program of research with a dedicated history of mentorship and teaching experience.  Responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of innovative research programs, supporting faculty development in research, managing the School’s research portfolio, fostering inter-professional research initiatives with academic, clinical and community partners, and working closely with School’s leadership team to strengthen and expand the SONHS’ existing research infrastructure.

Endowed Chair, Professor

Research Doctorate (PhD) in nursing or related field is required. Candidates must have an outstanding portfolio in advanced nursing education, distinguished record of research in scholarly achievement, publications, and student mentorship, as well as attainment of national, international professional recognition, and a level commensurate with tenure as a full professor. Priority areas of interest are vulnerable population/health disparities, patient safety/outcomes, global health, disaster preparedness, and family caregivers. The school will provide seed funds for research. Responsibilities include maintaining a program of research supported by external funding, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, and mentoring students.


Associate Professor

Research Doctorate (PhD) program of research with history of scholarship, teaching, publications, and student mentorship experience is required. Responsibilities include maintaining a program of research, evaluating student performances, developing teaching methods, delivering a range of teaching and assessment activities including lectures and coursework. Responsible for practical/clinical work where applicable.


Assistant Professor

Research Doctorate (PhD) program of research with dedicated history of scholarship and some teaching experience is required. Responsibilities include establishing a program of research, seeking external funding, evaluating student performances, developing teaching methods, delivering a range of teaching and assessment activities including lectures and coursework. Be responsible for practical/clinical work where applicable.
